The class wrote such beautiful haikus, sonnets, quatrains, and bardo poems that I thought it would be wonderful to share their work with you here. A Bardon Poem by Eileen Landon There was an openness that happened when the expanding came into her body. The fullness she felt stayed. She senses the warmth rising through her. A sensation found its way to a fine area that drew a tension. It was hard for her to let go. Melody of May by Bella Madden Under the apple tree I am cornered by fence - unseen - yet close enough to the school kids stepping home with rapid feet and urgent gossip. Estuary vowels and bicycle wheels thread through the fence holes at speed. A gentler voice drifts too, as the neighbour spots bugs and buds with her toddler - patiently sharing wonder in a sing-song of love on the breeze. As the last kids depart, their chatter softens and the rumble of car park tyres feeds the distant ring road roar - a backdrop to the final crescendo of clanging gates in alto. And then - there it is - high above the small bird song in exotic accompaniment to their sweet repetition - that scream. The sound that soars and lifts. The gift of May. The swifts.
