Writing Exercise: Gratitude Haiku

This month, adopt a 30-day gratitude haiku practice. A haiku is a short, unrhymed poem that adheres to a specific three-line, seventeen-syllable format. The form originated in Japan and is attributed to Master Basho. It has these rules:

  • Haiku is composed of only 3 lines and 17 syllables.

  • The first line of Haiku has 5 syllables, the second line has 7 syllables, and the third has 5 syllables.

Combining a haiku practice with gratitude practice is a powerful way to transform your life.
